Technically, a unicorn is a mythical, commonly white animal generally with the body and head of a horse and a long flowing mane and tail. A single ofttimes spiraled horn is in the middle of the forehead.

Realistically though, unicorns something showing up all over children'southward lives these days, thanks to a fascination with these creatures. Many can't seem to get enough, and and then they are found on apparel, in books, in TV shows and probably many birthday parties likewise.

Now, if children desire to depict more than just a Unicorn Head, this new tutorial will help them do simply that. The equus caballus-like body is simplified to proceed things easy for young artists. And the mane and tail are drawn with curly segments so children tin can have fun filling them with lots of colors.

Older students or those with an heart for detail will accept fun adding some shadows to their white unicorn torso too. Turns out that light gray Crayola® crayon that seems to have most no pigment at all, is perfect for adding shadows to white shapes. It adds a subtle gray that never gets too dark, no thing how hard you printing downward with information technology. Run across? Who says you need paint to learn nearly shading?

How to Go Started

The best fashion to get students off to a proficient start on any drawing projection is to show them how to utilize guides every bit a reference bespeak.

You may have noticed that all of the tutorials on this site have a dashed line running through the heart of each step, both in the horizontal and vertical direction. If students make their ain centered lines on theirown paper, before cartoon, they will accept an easy reference to follow.

For instance, as seen in Step 1 below, this unicorn neck starts to the left of the vertical line, simply to a higher placemiddle of the horizontal line paper. The body then continues downwardly and to the right.

Drawing skills are all about getting the size and placement of lines on paper, so having some visual reference points to get started, will always help anyone learn how to exist a little more than authentic.

Then does that mean students need to draw a big fat lines down the centre of their newspaper earlier they commencement? Goodness no, please don't! That will near likely exist hard to erase and distract from whatever finished fine art. No, just fold the paper in half both ways, make a crease, and unfold. The dazzler is that past the fourth dimension the drawing is washed and colored in, the creases will disappear.

And now, on to our drawing project.
